About Emma

Hi there!

I'm Emma, a primary school teacher, food-lover and the face behind Hearty Little Kitchen.

I’ve always loved food. I love cooking it, eating it, talking about it, sharing it and teaching it. To me, food is about so much more than what's on the plate. It brings people together, starts conversations, creates memories and gives us a chance to care for the people around us (not to mention ourselves!).

Somewhere along the way, I realised that one of my favourite things was helping kids discover that they can cook too.

There’s something pretty special about watching a child learn a new skill in the kitchen. Whether it's safely using a knife, trying an ingredient they've never tasted before, or proudly serving up something they've made themselves. Those little moments build confidence in a way that's hard to explain.

That's why I started Hearty Little Kitchen.

Through cooking incursions, workshops and classes, I help children develop practical kitchen skills while having fun, getting creative and exploring new foods. My goal isn't to create tiny MasterChefs. It's to help kids feel confident enough to have a go, make mistakes, learn new things and enjoy the process.

I also believe food education matters. When children learn where food comes from, how to prepare it and how to share it with others, they're learning skills that will stay with them for life.

Most of all, I believe food is one of the best ways we can connect with other people. Some of my favourite memories have happened around a table, sharing a meal with people I love. If I can help kids build that same connection with food, then I think that's pretty special.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm so glad you're here.
